The terrible truth is that the girls form jem closed their online boutique! I'd just sent off my second order - I'd only discovered this lovely online shop a couple of month ago - when I discovered that they were about to close. Where will I now buy the latest stuff from http://www.avoca.ie/, Nougat or Byoung?

Jemboutique: I discovered this cute British online shop a while ago when browsing the internet for stuff from the Irish label Avoca which I'd discovered in a tiny boutique in Cheltenham back in November 2006. Jemboutique is very user-friendly online-shop, with various options to search and browse their collection, with a zoom tool with which you can really make out colours and textures of the togs and once you've ordered the parcle containing your new gems is there in no time ... and we're talking about a delivery to the continent there;-) the only tiny downside was that they don't support credit cards from dinersclub and bank transfers are a bit tricky too due to the fact that - obiously - they're based in non-euro UK.

What a shame that I've already promised to go and see SatC on Tuesday, otherwise it would be a good opportunity for a meet and greet of Julian Opie and his works at the MAK ... but then: plans can be changed ...

I'd heard about BookCrossing ages ago, but only registered just today. The idea of freeing books is very appealing indeed. Right now, there are already 679,897 members and almost 5 million !!! freed books travelling all around the world. So just follow the motto: Have you freed any good books lately?

I've again fallen for period dress. The amazing V&A has published original 1940ies knitting patterns on it's website ... horray - finally know what to do during this year's dark long and lonely winter evenings!

Finally seen this one as well ... a bit weird like Apartment Zero but definitely better than Nostromo. I was just a bit taken aback when I rediscovered that Marie Trintignant is already dead ... and very much surprised that "die Kaiser" i.e. Ellen Umlauf was in the cast as well.

War heut bei der Buchpräsentation und anschließenden Podiumsdiskussion, ob's einen neuen Geschlechtervertrag braucht. Sehr spannend, allerdings lassen einige Meldungen aus dem Publikum daran zweifeln, dass sich in meiner Lebenszeit noch was grundlegendes verändern wird ...

Aber vielleicht, wenn mehr Leute diese Buch lesen und diskutieren und fragen stellen und nicht alles als gegeben nehmen. Ich werd jetzt auch zum Schmökern dieses gut fundierten + lesbaren Buches beginnen!

In November 2006, I first came across Avoca in a small shop with designer stuff in Cheltenham - and immediately I had to buy an amazing skirt made out of lovely pink and grey pattern and stripy frills. Unfortunately there aren't any outlets here in Austria, but I've discoved this German online shop eylinda a while go ... so far haven't ordered anything yet. Right now I've discovered yet another online shop selling this brand jem.boutique simply gorgeous stuff ...
